Simply Saturday

Hello!  I found a "new-to-me" sketch blog called Clean and Simple Fall-to Sketches!  I thought it would be a great share for Simply Saturday...  In fact, I decided to use it for today's card, along with the Color Blocking challenge from CAS-ual Fridays.
(Paper: PaperTreyInk; Ink: Momento; Image & Sentiment: Ippity (by Unity) stamps)

Have a blessed weekend!

June Already....

Wow!  I cannot believe that June is already here!  Why, this month is cram packed, with Relay for Life events this weekend, Abby's Dance recital this weekend, our big Relay event and Church picnic next weekend, Father's Day the one after that, then California bound the following week!  Wow!  Just thinking of it all makes me look forward to July already!
A big Happy Birthday goes out to my Father-in-Law today, so today's project is in honor of him :o)
Abby was totally wore out after swimming on Sunday and decided a nap snuggled up to Grandpa on the boat ride back was just what she needed!
Happy Birthday Grandpa, we love you!

Woot Woot

I received my grade back from my Statistics midterm and found out I scored 95%!  So excited :o)  Now if the rest of the class goes that good I will be all set!
This week's Fun on Friday over at Christian Paper Crafts is to make something with a monogram.  I decided to make this little number for my home office following the sketch from 2Sketches4You this week:

(Paper: PaperTreyInk, Cosmo Cricket - Girl Friday; Ink: Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Distress Ink - Tea Stain; Accessories: glitter letter, ribbon, lace)
Next up is a card I made for MOJO Monday and Digi Doodle Shop - just getting some MOJO on with my scraps, LOL!

(Paper: PaperTreyInk, BoBunny - Peacock, Stamps: Ippity - What Matters Most; Ink: Momento - Rich Cocoa, Distress Ink - Tea Stain; Accessories: Copics, ribbon, cuttlebug embossing folder, pearls, jute, button)
And last but not least, I made a scrapbook page for Scrappin' Silhouettes:

(Paper: BoBunny, Misc; Accessories: lace, Cork, Prima Flower)
I just loved our fun time at VBS!  The top pic is me with my Teen Class and the lower one is my hubby and me covered in shaving cream on the day of the VBS Party!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Slowly But Surely...

That's how my Summer of school is coming along.  I am getting ready to take the mid-term in stats and hopefully go through the rest of the class full speed ahead and get to the final by the end of this month!  Right now, my stamping and scrapping time is while Abby is asleep, but it is a good way to shut down from the world of school and it gives me more of a set schedule to "play" than I had ever before!!
Today's card for Sketch Tuesday is sightly modified from the original sketch a little bit.  I did not want to make a square card, so I had to do a little "tweaking" to make everything fit!  I think I added a little of everything onto this little card, but I sure think it's cute - and hope you do too!!
(Cardstock - PTI, Bo Bunny; Jute; Lace; Button; Stamps - Ippity; Ink: Copics, Distress Ink-Tea Stain; CuttleBug Embossing Folder - Swiss Dots)

I hope Summer time is treating you well and you are having your greatest yet!

Jam Packed

Happy Saturday!  I am so blessed to be sitting here in my office this morning typing to such lovely visitors like you!  If this is your first time stopping by, I sure hope you enjoy yourself and if you like what you see, please click and follow me!!
*I finally posted my Copic Certification badge on my blog thanks to a sweet reminder from an encouraging friend!  :)*
Today over at Christian Paper Crafts is Scripture Saturday and CASE Artist Saturday!  Our Scripture for today is Luke 6:19 and a decided to make an Artist Trading Card (ATC) for my stand that I keep on my desk at work!  I am loving how it turned out so cute and shabby :o)
I used PaperTreyInk cardstock and designer paper, buttons, twine, Tim Hotz Distress Ink in Tea Stain, a Zig Marker to write the Scripture with and last but most certainly not least, I spritzed some Tattered Angels glimmer mist on what was white lace for the trim!  Almost everything on the card was run through the cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder and I distressed the edges on the small button holder squares to rough them up a tad!  Such a sweet Sketch from SplitCoast Stampers could not be passed up, so I had to try it out on here!

Next up - CASE Artist Saturday!  Today is the last day for CASE Artist Saturday, but don't be sad, that's 'cause we're moving to Wednesday!  Starting Wednesday the 23rd, we will be WAC or Wednesday Case Artist, or "Hump Day Cards" LOL
I used PaperTreyInk Cardstock and Cosmo Cricket designer paper from the Early Bird Line!  A little lace, some jute, a button, some pearls - all those were the frosting :o)  The stamped image is from the Ippity stamps by Unity and colored with Copics!  A fiskars punch was the perfect addition to the side panel to give it some pizzas and I rounded the corners of the card just to be a little different!

I hope you have a wonderful Saturday!

God Bless You,
Mary

Blessed

How appropriate that Ang's keyword for Bible Verse Thursday today at Christian Paper Crafts is blessings when I have been thinking lately of just how blessed I truly am. Everything may not be exactly like I would like it to be, but it could sure be a lot worse! Yesterday evening I was having a cruddy time, nothing would go right and I just got mouthy {nothing bad, just sassy and snappy ;) } I posted on FaceBook that although I was in an awful mood I considered myself blessed that I have a Savior that loves me and the American soldier to defend my freedom! That in itself is enough to be blessed! If you are familiar with FB, you know people can "like" your status, so I was very honored when Sargent Hotelling of the US Army "liked" my status! I'm here where I'm free and people like him defend the freedom that God gave us, like I said...blessed!
So, there you have it! I decided to make an all out girly card that simply has the word "blessings" on it, 'cause this girly girl is truly blessed! Paper by PaperTreyInk, Stamps from Unity KOM, Ink SU Pink Passion, Brown Zig Marker, lace, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Cotton Candy

Do you see your blessings all around you today? You know the "not so obvious ones"!

God Bless You,

Think...Happy...Thoughts...

That's me when I see/experience Tattered Angels Glimmer mist in any color there is! The stuff is totally addicitve, much like my Copics :o) The two of them together on the desk in my office...bliss!
This little card is a product of the two together!! The Copics couldn't resist the Birdhouses and the Glimmer Mist was just as magical as ever! Love the cute sketch from A Crafty Little Place (Die Cuts R Us) and the button challenge from Digi Doodle Shop! And see that little birdie on the last house there, well he is headed for the Stampin Sister's in Christ Challlenge this week :o)

Supplies: Stampin Up Chocolate Chip c/s, PTI Stamper's Select White c/s, Kraft c/s, PP, Stampin Up Brilliant Blue Ink, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Tea Stain - my fave, Momento Rich Cocoa; Stamps: Unity KOM, PTI Background Basics: Retro and Signature Greetings; Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Moonlight and Frost; button; jute.

Happy Sunday! I hope your work week flies by to an amazing weekend! Our Relay for Life is next weekend - we are so excited!

Pretty Toes and Headache Woes

Hello and Happy Saturday everyone! I hope that everyone's weekend is off to a wonderful start! Although I have been dealing with a headache, I have to say it has been a great weekend so far! Right now I am blessed to be getting a pedicure as I type this blog...well, my hubby is the one doing it, but that's the best :o) I love having some pretty toes to peep out of new sandals!
This yucky headache has lingered for a couple of days, therefore so did this card. I still don't think I am totally satisfied with it, but as much as I will ever be, I suppose. Since I didn't feel too well, I tried to combine as many things as possible! The sketch is from the lovely 2Sketches4You, while the Bible verse using the word "paths" is from the Bible Verse Thursday challenge #55 over at Christian Paper Crafts. Also, the heart is colored using copic markers, the challenge for Fun on Friday #54 over at Christan Paper Crafts as well!
Supplies: PTI cardstock, Georgia Pacific cardstock, Basic Grey pp, Wright's Creative Classic Trim, American Crafts Slick Writer, Ippity Stamps (Music of My Hearts), SU Real Red Ink, PTI Hibiscus ink, Bubblegum glimmermist
Also, this card was my first ever attempt at using glimmer mist.
With that being said, it led into this:
Now this was F-U-N and right up my ally!! The Scripture 1 Timothy 2:1 is for Scripture Saturday #47 also at CPC. After using the glimmer mist on the card prior to this one, I had to break it out again and spritz some around! Add some jute, trim, and a button, along with distressing the edges of the stamped image to shabby it up a bit! The stamp of the birdhouses is from a Unity KOM from this year, although I cannot remember which month, and the background is stamped with music which is the challenge over at Stampin' Sisters In Christ this week! I used CTMH inks Pansy Purple and Sunflower. This sketch is from MOJO Monday, Sketch 139, and although I always want to play along, I usually forget the sketch and use it too late to add it to the link list - not this week...almost, but I'm making it in time :o)
Well, I'm off to add these cards to the Prayer Shawl Ministry Basket! Thank you for stopping by, I sure hope you come back soon!

God Bless You,

Monday...Again

Good morning! Monday's at my house are always hectic. No matter how much I try to do for the week ahead on Sunday, it seems the list for Monday mornings is never ending! Last night, we were without electricity for HOURS, so that really threw a kink into my "pre-planning".
Nonetheless, today is color Monday over at Christian Paper Crafts and I feel like Miss Boo had me in mind when she picked out this color combo!
I just love the shabby, vintage feel to this card! I gave it to my mommy :o) The card uses PTI cardstocks and a Unity stamp, as well as my much loved Copics, jute, a button, and of course, Abby's tea-stained lace!

God Bless You,

Office...Sweet...Messy...Cozy...Office

For some reason, my office currently looks like an explosion happened in here LOL. I tried to take a few minutes to pick up, and I think I just made matters worse!! Thankfully the french doors will be up by the end of the Summer, then I will be able to just close it off from the rest of the (messy) house :o)
It's time again for Scripture Saturday and CASE Artist Saturday over at Christian Paper Crafts! I am excited to show you my little creations today, as always...
First off, our featured artist today is twin2u2. You can visit her gallery by clicking her name, or clicking here. I am sure you will find lots of inspiration there, remember, keyword CAS52 if uploading into a gallery at Christian Paper Crafts and CPC-CAS52 if uploading somewhere else.
This card uses cardstock from PaperTreyInk, along with patterned papers from Hobby Lobby. The stamp is from Unity, in the Ippity line of stamps, which I sell for Relay for Life. You can find out more about that here. I colored the sweet little bird in with Copic Markers and the flower in the corner is handmade, too! The lace, now that lace is pretty special to me. You see, my three year old Abby has a new fascination. Wanna know what it is? She is truly a girl after her momma's heart, as she has taken up the hobby of "tea staining" and LOVES it!! Seriously. To keep her entertained for hours, brew a cup of tea, allow it to cool, and supply her with lace, ribbon, etc to "color"! My husband is truly amazed that I constantly find ways to keep her involved!
Next up, is my project for Scripture Saturday today (Keyword SS45 at CPC and CPC-SS45 everywhere else). The scripture for today is 2nd Chronicles 7:14 - "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." With the way things are in the world today, isn't it amazing that there in the Bible is the solution, but mankind as a whole will not follow it?
The cute layout comes from the sketch over at 2Sketches4You this week. Today I used PTI cardstocks as my base, and layered on some of the same Hobby Lobby papers that I used in my card for CASE Artist Saturday. I also added a prima that has pearls for the center. I went for the older papers because they remind me of my grandmothers. They were so true to this verse, and apparently people of their generation were truer to it than those of the current generation.
I hope you have a wonderful Saturday!

Saturday Joys...

Today I have a couple of little creations to share with you. The Prayer Shawl ministry at church is such a blessing not only to those of us who are creating the shawls, but also to those who are receiving them. Here is another shawl that I created with prayer this week. I am not sure who it will go to, but it is full of prayers.
I created it using Peaches and Cream brand yarn. I had never worked with it before and it was oh so easy to use!
Over at Christian Paper Crafts, today is both Scripture Saturday and CASE Artist Saturday. For Scripture Saturday, our verse is Psalm 29:11. I decided to make an ATC for my ATC holder that sits on my desk at work. I thought this little verse is a great reminded of what God does for us, especially on days we need reminded the most. "The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless Hid people with peace".
The featured artists today for CASE artist Saturday is Rose Miller. You can see Rose's gallery at CPC by clicking here. The card I decided to CASE today can be seen by clicking here.
After I started on this card, I realized that I used the same color combo and papers that I did for last weeks CASE that I did!! I guess it just shows that I am in a "Summer time" mood and these colors scream Summer to me and beg to be used!!
Last, but definitely not least is something that I did not get to do as often as I would have liked while in school... Play with the sketch over at 2Sketches4You!! It was such fun to create with them again! :o)
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all of the women out there! My mommy's gift is sitting in my bedroom, begging to be given to her today, but I will *try* to wait until tomorrow ;o)
God Bless You,

Happy Graduation Day!

Yes, that would be today! I am officially a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University with my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree. Although I have been a nurse for years, finishing my Bachelor's degree was the first step in achieving my dream of obtaining my Masters to be a Nurse Practitioner! IWU is a Christian school, which was so cool because the first college I went to also had a Christian emphasis. If you couldn't tell, I'm a little excited!
Being in school, having a family, and working full time was enough to make the blog take a back seat every now and again, but when you coupled that with the fact that I decided to take all accelerated courses to finish quicker (what was I thinking?) and having technical issues, well.... The techno issues won out and I didn't have as much time to fight with them :o( Back now though :o)
Some things that have been going on before we get to the crafty business of it. The church where I attend now has a Prayer Shawl Ministry that I am blessed to be a part of. Here is one of the shawls that I crocheted for the ministry. We present them to those who have a need, whether it is physical sickness, emotional, those suffering loss, etc. This one is made for a special friend's sister-in-law who is fighting breast cancer. She is a courageous Christian and is trusting in God for her healing. Please join me in praying for her, especially as she is only 35 and has three young children as well as a spouse.
And my scrapbook room got an updo! I never really knew what to call it to be honest because it didn't have a door or even a doorway, it was just sort of an extension or bonus space off to the side of our family room that the contractor never finished converting into a bathroom (before we purchased the house), so my sweet hubby decided to build me a wall and buy me some french doors for the place and call it my office! He thinks office is a good term since I am waiting to hear whether or not I am accepted into grad school for the fall! I love the new color and furniture! Finally, everything matches and it is not a messy hodge podge of stuff! (I looked for a "before" picture, but was unable to find one....it was a horrid mess, so I am not sure I would have wanted to post it if I would have found it!) The area is very small as you can tell, I think the room is around 8x8, but it is serving it's purpose :o)
Now, on to the paper-crafty goodness! Today is of course Scripture Saturday and CASE Artist Saturday over at Christian Paper Crafts! If you have not stopped by and become a member, I urge you to do so. If you are unfamiliar with CPC, check it out, you will not regret it!
Our featured artist today is Bernadette. The card of hers that I decided to CASE can be seen by clicking here. When I saw the little squares, I immediately thought of quilting and fell in love! This card also follows along with Cindy's Fun on Friday challenge for yesterday (FOF51). You can read all about that here.
In the picture below, you can see a better close up of some of the detail! I used PTI cardstock along with Cosmo Cricket! Unity Stamps and copic markers.
Next is what I created for Scripture Saturday. I love to keep verse close by whether in my office at work or my new office at home. I find that if I begin to get aggravated, I can grab my ATC holder and look through it... A smile and prayer comes up in no time after that! Today's Scripture is Proverbs 3:13, from any version you chose. I am more familiar with the King James or New King James version, so those are what I use the most. I also decided to use a little Fun on Friday theme on here as well! I hope you enjoy!
Have a wonderfully blessed weekend,

God Bless You,

The Silence of Snow...

Okay - I openly admit that while most people think the silent snowfall is peaceful, I think it's eerie! I do not like snow and to think that something is piling up outside that causes the roads to be so dangerous, the loss of power, and requires cold weather to happen - and all silently - I just don't like it! Now that I've confessed - we'll move on :o)
Since it's so cold out, I have really enjoyed being couped up in my scrapbook room, hoping to get caught up on some things... My mind works faster than my hands can and makes a LOT of plans that take time to get to paper!
First today is for Scripture Saturday here and over at Christian Paper Crafts. Today's verse is Proverbs 16:3. I chose to use Gloria's Sketch #40 over at Christian Paper Crafts to fix a page for my husband's scrapbook. Shhh...it's a secret, and I am hoping to take pictures as he is preaching to give to him for Christmas this year! I think I need to get to work on it more and what better way than using the wonderful sketches and Scripture Saturdays as motivation!! Oh, and Cindy's challenge for Fun on Friday yesterday was to use your nestabilities to emboss with! I really did it...finally... Although the picture doesn't do it justice, I was so tickled with the result of the embossing, it really gave it an added touch!!
On to CASE Artist Saturday over at Christian Paper Crafts, where our featured artist today is Deedee. Click here to see the card in her gallery that I chose to CASE the basic layout of, and below is my interpretation and creation!
I hadn't made a clear card in quiet some time and I added a layer with the silloute stamped image!
God Bless You & Have a Wonderful Saturday,

Knock Your Socks Off...

Good morning! I am so glad this week seems to be going by fast! I simply cannot wait for the weekend to be able to do some more Christmas decorating at my house! I simply must wrap some packages to get them out of my closet, but finding a way to keep my little one out of them is going to be the task!
I am so honored that Unity is our sponsor over at Christian Paper Crafts this month! If you have not tried them out, I highly recommend them! The Unity Kit of the Month is something I just recently began receiving as a monthly treat from my husband. With so much going on in life, it is a nice little break in the day when I go home to see that yellow envelope filled with a brown bag of goodies has arrived! The Unity KOMs are not very expensive compared to many other "kit clubs" and is a great way to keep getting new goodies! Going to the store, I know I would be tempted to purchase so much more that I would never use! This first card is made From Simple Blessings - a stamp set the DT was given to use and create with! The first thing you probably notice about this card is - it's simple! The reason being, I have had many, many people tell me they would like to try crafting or card making but it is just too complex once they look at the creations of others. I like to gently remind people that God made us all just the way He wants us. He will continually mold us and shape us in everything we do, and that all paper-crafters had to start somewhere. It's nice to go back to simple cards every now and again! On this card I used some Brown paper from PTI as my cardstock base, some purple Post-It Craft paper (love this stuff), kraft cardstock, jute, button, and Close to My Heart inks! I did run the Post It Craft paper through my cuttlebug and distressed the edges. You know what - it did great! Now this little number is made from my Unity October Kit of the Month and you can still purchase it here. As soon as I saw this little sock-monkey appear on my screen during the time of preview for the Kit of the Month, I fell in love with him! Trust me, if I had time, there would be people on my Christmas list getting homemade sock monkeys just so I could make a gift tag out of this little guy :o) What I did though was something still along the line of socks, in that I altered a clear little paint tin ready to hold some new warm, fuzzy socks! It will be the packaging for my gift at our Ladies Auxiliary Christmas swap. You know - you always get invited to these parties where you are to take a x dollar amount gift. Sometimes it is so hard to find something, but I know the little fuzzy socks will meet the price and put a smile on someones face!
Head on over to Christian Paper Crafts and see what all is being created with Unity this month. You can also find us in the SplitCoastStampers gallery keyword CPCUnityNov09. Have a wonderful day!

Keeping with the theme for the Christian Paper Crafts blog hop, I decided to use a stamp from the Unity Kit of the Month! As you can see, I decided to use the verse for the sentiment inside my card! This card also follows this weeks sketch over at 2Sketches4You, as well as being the verse for Scripture Saturday here at my blog and over at Christian Paper Crafts! I hope you like it. Later on in the hop, you will come to my Picked With Love devotional blog where you will see another card made with this same stamp set!

Hopping Along with Unity & CPC {Blog Hop}

Hello everyone! I hope that you are having a wonderfully blessed Friday the 13th! No superstition here, could it be a bad day when you are playing along with Unity and Christian Paper Crafts? This month Unity Stamps is our awesome sponsor over at Christian Paper Crafts and I am so delighted that you are joining us on our very first blog hop!
The sets I have to show off to you today are Simple Blessings and Build a Turkey. I hope you enjoy!
Please remember to check back here at my blog (as well as the rest of the design team), over at SCS on the Unity Board, and of course at Christian Paper Crafts throughout the month for many, many more ideas with these wonderful sets!

This card was made with various "scraps" of paper I had lying around, and of course the Simple Blessings stamp set! This is quickly becoming of my favorite stamps sets ever! I love the pumpkins and let me tell you, the size will NOT disappoint you! Well worth the price! I loved adding the little buttons in along with the pearls. I reminded my husband it is because Jesus Loves Me just the way I am - unique!
This project used the wonderful Build a Turkey Stamp set and it was so much fun to create! What is it? - You might be asking... Well, it is none other than a conversation starter box for Thanksgiving! On each of the little "Turkey feathers" inside, there is a conversation starter question on the back, such as "Do you read the Bible?" or "Name 5 songs you know the lyrics to?" This could easily be a project that you include the younger members of the family in making and everyone gets to enjoy it! Another idea would be to make a "Blessing Box" for everyone to write what they are thankful for down, place inside, and look at it the next year!

Now for the prizes - There are 6 of us participating in the blog hop, so that equals 6 chances to win! There is one catch - each blog must have a minimum of 10 posts before it is eligible to hand out a prize. Christian Paper Crafts and Unity DT members are not eligible to win and our posts do not count toward the original 10 needed to give a prize! And what might those prizes be, why of course, it is a stamp set from Unity! The comments will close at midnight on Sunday and the winners will be announced on Monday morning on the individual blogs!
A very special thank you to Unity Stamp Company and of course to you for stopping by! You have made my day! If you have come to me from Cindy's page, then it is time to hop on over to Natalie at Delightful Details. If not, please click over to Cindy's page and check out her wonderful creations!
Here is the official hop order:
6. Jenny Charboneau, Designs by Boo (Miss Boo - Our guest DT member for this month!!)
