Simply saturday

Saturday is perhaps my favorite day of the week... One thing I aim to do is keep Saturday's as simple as possible. I try to have the grocery shopping out of the way, the house cleaning over, homework finished, etc so Saturday can be a family day, whether we decide to spend it at home or out and about. If at home, one of my favorite things to do is of course have some crafty time. Thanks to God for giving me a semi-creative mind every now and again, we incorporate crafty time and learning a lot... For example, we were working on getting some shapes down pat recently, so in order to work on triangles, here is what we made!

I'm loving it, but thats just my little ole country side showing! Abby helped trace and then cut out all the triangles for the project... I am so proud of her. Now, if we could only learn to call a square a square... (she calls them diamonds...what can I say, she is my daughter after all!)
In the world of paper, I wanted to share with you a scrapbook page of ouut most recent trip to the lake. Boy, swimming sure can take it right out of a girl!
{Cardstock & Papers: Papertrey Ink and October Afternoon; Ink: Momento - Tuxedo Black; Other: lace trim, button, twine,p prima flowers, button, stick pin, nestabilities labels dies}

I used the fabulous sketch from sketchabilities and adapted it to fit my one photo.
A couple of cards are on today's agenda as well...
{Cardstock & Papers: PapertreyInk Green Boutique, Kraft, and Basic Black; Stamps: Papertrey Ink Star Prints; Ink: Momento - Tuxedo Black; Other: lace trim, button, twine)
The Fussy and Fancy Challenge Blog is having a DT call, and this little number is for them!  I also used Sketch Tuesday 111 from Christian Paper Crafts.
{Cardstock & Papers: PapertreyInk Distressed Dots, Kraft, Raspberry Fizz, and White; Stamps: Unity - Stamp from KOM ?2010; Ink: Momento - Rich Cocoa, Copics; Other: lace trim, twine, Making Memories Butterfly, Jolees Bling)
Although I really have nothing against pastels, I tend to stay away from them on my cards because it's just not my style.  That's one reason I love challenges like the Color Throwdown, they really get me to thinking outside the box.  Of course, a great sketch from Card Positioning Systems always helps guide things along as well!Hope your Saturday is simply the best!

Welcome to Christian Paper Crafts, Scrabooking!

Good morning! Can you believe it is the middle of the week already? Thankfully we are planning a little mini trip to take Abby to DollyWood this Saturday, but shhh, she doesn’t know – it’s a surprise!
Today is the kick-off of the new Scrapbooking Section over at Christian Paper Crafts! Please make time to stop by and see what all of the commotion is about! Since it is also Wednesday, it is time once again for CASE Artist Wednesday. Today’s challenge is to CASE ANYTHING from the new scrapbook section! See, simple as that, plus you are getting to play along in 2 challenges! How’s that for multi-tasking!!
The challenge I decided to CASE is a sketch, which also is the title of one of the new scrapbook challenges, Stretch Your Sketch! Here is what I came up with:

Also today, I have my card for Christian Paper Crafts Sketch Tuesday to share with you!  Made with some PaperTrey and Abbey Road sweetness with a touch of pearls!  This little bit is also going in the challenge over at Stampin Sister's in Christ this week :o)

Welcome to Monday!

Today is my little girl's first day of dance school and we are so excited :o)  She's been talking about it forever and the day has finally come!  I hope and pray it is all she ever dreamed it would be!
Be sure to check out the challenge over at Deedee's Digi's today!  Seasons!  I totally love the change of seasons, especially the season of Fall!
This little guy makes me think of Fall and is available in Deedee's store!  In fact, if it is Fall images you are looking for, you have GOT to check the store out!  (Oh, and the wonderful sketch is from the Paper Works Company!)

(Image: Deedee's Digi; Paper: PaperTreyInk, Cosmo Cricket; Ink: Copics, Misc: Ribbon, Tattered Angel's Glimmer Mist, Button, Jute, Lace)
This next little lovely is some fun colors that totally don't fit in with the Season of Fall!  They look more like Spring or Summer, hehehe, but they are the colors for today's Color Monday over at Christian Paper Crafts!  I decided to combine them with the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #85 for this:

Finally Friday!

Well - it's finally Friday of a three day weekend and my internet is working...for the moment!  Hopefully things are starting to look up!
It sure has been a long time - and real inconsistant since I have been in...  I hope that is fixed and all will be well once more...
How about a cute little Deedee's Digi bear on a card today?  Well, here you go:

Image: Deedee's Digis; Paper: Cosmo Cricket, PTI; Ink: Copics, Distress Ink-Tea Stain;
Accessories: Butterfly bling, butterfly trim, primas

This little card was entered into the following challenges:
* Color Throwdown
* The Sweet Stop - sketch layout
* Fab n Funky - material
* Stampin Sister's In Christ - metal (on butterfly)
* Flourishes Timeless Tuesday - Summer Memories (playing dress up & chasing butterflies with Abby!)

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Merry Christmas &a Pig...Say What?!

Well, I know that it is Summer time, but Christmas challenges seem to be popping up everywhere! Have you noticed it too? I figured that I may as well jump on the band-wagon, that way I would have at least one card done come Christmas time!
(Paper: PaperTreyInk, Basic Grey; Ink: Copics, Distress Ink, White Ink; Image: Deedee’s Digis; Accessories: Fiskars Punch, Edge Distressing Tool, CuttleBug Snowflake Embossing Folder, Jute, Buttons, Acetate Sheets)
I decided to combine multiple challenges into this one though! First of all, the Christmas challenge is from The Cuttlebug Spot – notice the snowflake embossing done on kraft and highlighted with a little white ink! The colors, well they are from Color Throwdown #102, so pretty, and although they were chosen to be Summer Colors, I think they worked great for a Cool Winter card. The corners of the card have paper piercing added as a result of the Tuesday Throwdown challenge. And last, but not least, Midnight Madness is responsible for the awesome sketch! If you notice the snowflakes on the card in the corner, my dear friend Candace was looking for some “Ghost Snowflakes by Heidi Swapp”, so I decided to see if I could create them… Not sure if I am happy with them or not LOL It’s sure not something I would be happy enough with to give LOL

Next up is a cute little pig card that I made to go along with a Prayer Shawl that I am working on. The cute little image is from Deedee’s Digis and you can find him in the Dollar Digi bin over there at the Deedee’s Digi’s Store!  The wonderful sketch is from Sweet Sketches.
(Image: Deedee’s Digis; Paper: PaperTreyInk, BasicGrey; Ink: Copics, Distress Ink; Accessories: Ribbon, Prima, Stickles)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

God Bless You,
Mary

...Peace & Quiet...

No, there's not really any of that going on around here, but it is the theme for today's Bible Verse Thursday at Christian Paper Crafts, AND the site is back up and running!!
I think little honey-bees (like on Winnie the Pooh) - look so peaceful.  That is, until they are real and can sting you!  But don't worry, this little feller is just cute - no stinging here!  I used another "new to me" Sketch site today too, Sunday Sketch & Stamp!  Great sketches and super recommended!
(Paper: PaperTreyInk, BoBunny; Stamps: PaperTreyInk - Baby Button Bits; Accessories: prima, bling; Ink: Momento - Rich Cocoa, Distress Ink - Tea Stain)

Have a wonderful day!

(Paper: PaperTreyInk, BoBunny; Accessories: Ribbon, Button, Jute, Flower, Pin, Cork, Nestabilities; Stamp: Paper Trey Ink; Ink: Copics, Momento Rich Cocoa, Distress Ink - Tea Stain)
This little number is for the sketch challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts this week and the Stampin Sisters In Christ Challenge!

...Sparkles...

Everything on my projects sparkle today...
When I saw the current sketch for Card Positioning Systems, rather than a card, a scrapbook page was the first thing to come to my mind.  Today's Scripture Saturday over at Christian Paper Crafts is Psalms 19:1.  Although I knew the picture I wanted to use for my page, I was unsure on the layout until I found that one!!  I also had to combine it with the Fussy and Fancy Challenge of Scallops, Stitches, and Sparkle!  Such a fun way to remember such a fun vacation!
Here is my page:
(Paper: BoBunny, Accessories: Prima Flower, Lace, Button, Pin, Cork, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist)
Since the CPS and Fussy and Fancy challenges are really geared toward card making, I decided to make a card using these "guidelines" along with one of my favorite Deedee's Digis (and yes, it is "upside down", but I just love it that way for some reason):
(Paper: PaperTrey Ink, BoBunny; Image: Deedee's Digis, Accessories: Copics, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Lace)

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Woot Woot

I received my grade back from my Statistics midterm and found out I scored 95%!  So excited :o)  Now if the rest of the class goes that good I will be all set!
This week's Fun on Friday over at Christian Paper Crafts is to make something with a monogram.  I decided to make this little number for my home office following the sketch from 2Sketches4You this week:

(Paper: PaperTreyInk, Cosmo Cricket - Girl Friday; Ink: Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Distress Ink - Tea Stain; Accessories: glitter letter, ribbon, lace)
Next up is a card I made for MOJO Monday and Digi Doodle Shop - just getting some MOJO on with my scraps, LOL!

(Paper: PaperTreyInk, BoBunny - Peacock, Stamps: Ippity - What Matters Most; Ink: Momento - Rich Cocoa, Distress Ink - Tea Stain; Accessories: Copics, ribbon, cuttlebug embossing folder, pearls, jute, button)
And last but not least, I made a scrapbook page for Scrappin' Silhouettes:

(Paper: BoBunny, Misc; Accessories: lace, Cork, Prima Flower)
I just loved our fun time at VBS!  The top pic is me with my Teen Class and the lower one is my hubby and me covered in shaving cream on the day of the VBS Party!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Still Missing the Beach...

Really, you would think I would be over it by now, but I wanna be back at the peaceful beach!
I couldn't resist playing along with some "beachy" themes and accessories to reminisce on our sweet vacation time.  The super images are from Deedee's Digis, and guess what?  Deedee has a Dollar Digi section now!  That is totally awesome, and if you wanna know why, well here is the scoop:  You see, for just a dollar, you get a digi image that you can resize, print, and color as many times as you want.  Now, most of us are guilty for buying the stamps in the dollar bin where we are stuck to the small size the stamp is.  But with these, you can make them as BIG or little as you wish!

(Cardstock: PaperTreyInk, Abbey Road; Image: Deedee's Digis, Accessories: Tattered Angel's Glimmer Mist, Prima Flower, Lacce, Copics, Spellbinder's Nestabilities)
Head on over to the Deedees Digi's Craft Blog to see more ideas with today's stamp and play along with this week's sketch challenge!
My next card once again uses a Deedee's Digi's image - and it's one of my faves - The Flops!  Over at Christian Paper Crafts, today's Color Monday challenge is Royal Blue and white.  Being a Kentucky girl, those colors tend to come naturally, so here is what I can up with:
(Paper: PaperTreyInk, BoBunny; Accessories: cork, prima flower, Stickles, CuttleBug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder)

Over at Kaboodle Doodles, they are having a luau and you should totally go check it out!  Both of my cards fit the theme!  I hope you are having a Blessed Monday!

Sweet Sunday Summertime

Well, another VBS has come and gone, but the kids AND adults are saying this is the best one ever...  I don't think it could have anything to do with me wiping a couple of stores clean of Barbasol shaving cream, could it?  ;)
Welcome to the Craft Blog today! I'm Mary, but you would probably know me better by Softangelkisses since that is the name of my blog and the name I use mostly in the crafting world! My little card today is made with one of Deedee's cute little bears and I just fell in love with him! I hope you do too!
(Paper: PaperTreyInk and Cosmo Cricket-The Boyfriend; Ribbon: Offray; Image: Deedee's Digis Leap of Faith; Flower: Prima; Misc: Button, Jute, Copics, Dawn McVey Download from PTI)
Hopefully this will be a restful and relaxing Sunday since we are all headed back to work tomorrow!!

God Bless You,
